So they can transform their character beyond what the game defaults to?

if your worried about waiting, you'd have better luck with presets than seeing this implanted into servers soon.

I'm actually in the middle of a college programming course. By the time I'm done, I hope to be able to do a fair few things with IT's code. If no one's managed to get a public bit of coding for this out by the time my course is done, I'll have a look into it.

Oh same here! though i've only been doing it for a couple days. I want to learn it so i can add things to my server, like quests, different functions, like having your pet do tricks, or making it so animals can both fly AND run.

I've done this, along with multiple layers(two head, two body) of markings. So including the tail one there will be 5 colour settings for markings.

networking, unit, characterscreen, and campaignmanager. I think there was a fifth that came up but i might just be remembering the config i always leave open.

Recommend a basic understanding of adding new parameters and color values.

is an un-nessecary change. The default color values in characterscreen are a much better choice for setting this value.

Aside from dealing with parameters and value listings (didn't even notice the bugger) That is the right track. run a search for keywords "markingVect" and just plain "markings" to find all the areas where they need to be divided.

I would try putting all the changes up, but some portions are in relation to the previous heavy amount of changes I already had in ML and might be even more confusing than they original were. lol. (easily forget those important parameter settings, too)

i wonder if it was the player file that came open....

i'm sorry, i'm all over the place.

toats magoats. I won't do the work for you, but if you are trying to implement separation of markings, I'll answer whatever questions you have. Maybe my 3+ hours of hair-pulling can help cut your time down to only 2 hours and 45 minutes. XD

Thank-you, Myz. For reigniting my desire to do this and leading me in the right direction. (even if you made it seem a far easier task than it turned out to be...lolol code)




BTW: If you are working on a server that has a lot of players...i don't really recommend doing these kinds of character data changes. (to each their own, of course. lord knows I haven't taken my own advice.) lol I now have 3 dead accounts of my own because I keep doing these without deleting my old characters first XD maybe it's a good thing ML has so few players for once....XD

There are two lines that need changing within NetworkManager:

tUnit->setMarkings((mDef->hasBodyMark(tBodyMark)?tBodyMark:0),(mDef->hasHeadMark(tHeadMark)?tHeadMark:0),(mDef->hasTailMark(tTailMark)?tTailMark:0));

Code:
mUnitManager->getPlayer()->getMarkings(tBodyMark,tHeadMark,tTailMark);

At this stage, they are a single line that controls all three markings. Turn them into 3 lines each so that each single line controls just one marking each. (pretty easy, break them apart at the commas)

Such as like so:
