 Ogre Error - Can not decode image

Hello KITO Community

So I can normally start the game and the logon page. But when I try to connect to the login server, to view and select one of my characters to play, I get this Ogre exception:

The last thing I changed were some textures. But I used the correct name and it also worked with the new textures for some time till this error occurred. I tried to rebuild it two times and reset all media files, because I think this could be the problem. But it has changed nothing and I still get the same error.

I would be really happy for some help and thank you for your time to read this!

Ive never gotton this error before, but judging by it i want to say it does have something to to with a texture image

If you used an image you straight saved over the old one (let's say from google or imgur, etc.) it will give you this error. So make sure you actually have permission to use the image you're trying to use!

You need to like.. slightly "modify" it in an art program - anyone will do (GIMP is free!) Or just run it through the program and save it again.

at least this is why I would get this error when I tried to save an image directly from my imgur to my media files. I could be wrong.

But putting it through the art program worked in my case so //shrug

what textures did you modify?

if it's a heightmap, the image needs to be greyscale and have no alpha channel

if it's any other image, make sure it's set to rgb mode and not indexed

Thank you for the heads up, Hyper.
But as I said before, I've reset all media files included the textures folder and recompiled it with the old IT files. But it still continues to get me this error. The strange thing on the whole is, that it worked first with the new textures, I've also edited all images first before I replaced them, but suddenly this error came up.


- what textures did you modify?

* I've only replaced all buttons, the two backdrops, all the borders and box-backgrounds and I've also edited the Zombie Dragons texture a little but didn't replaced that at all.



But like I said, it makes no difference if I use the new textures or the old ones. So I think, it could be the ogre engine its self?

*SOLVED*

I could solve the problem with KatyeKittys help.
She said changing the location of the files or simply if you once have compiled the Solution.cfg and then move the file to another source, this error will occur. I tried compiling the whole oIT source on another drive and it worked again.

I also searched on google for the Error:
'OGRE EXCEPTION(7:InternalErrorException): Error decoding image in FreeImageCodec::decode at ..\..\..\..\OgreMain\src\OgreFreeImageCodec.cpp' and they said, that a corrupted image in the formats .png or .jpg could be the reason. Like Jaxy said above, just run all the textures files trough an image program again and save it with the correct name and extension.
I didn't tried that one out but it is another option for you.
