PostSubject: Terrain receiving light (not sun)   Sat Apr 14, 2018 11:04 am

So i was placing lights in different colors and i noticed the terrain is not receiving them but the objects do. i fiddlet with the terrarin material of the map but that is not the solution since the cave-ceiling uses the exact same material and it receives the lightcolor.

Can anyone tell me as to where and what i have to change to make the terraihn receive different colors of light?

Thank youuuuu <3

What does your terrain script look like.
Try something like this at the start and with each pass.
Code:
{
    receive_shadows on
    technique
    {
        pass
        {
 lighting on
 ambient 0.7 0.7 0.7 1
 diffuse 0.2 0.2 0.2 1
 emissive 0.15 0.15 0.15 1

material Terrain/TimeMachine
{
receive_shadows on
technique
{
pass Main
{
lighting on
ambient 0.75 0.75 0.75 1
diffuse 0.1 0.1 0.1 1
cull_hardware none
cull_software none
alpha_rejection greater_equal 64
texture_unit
{
texture ceilingTex.dds
scale 0.2 0.2
}
texture_unit
{
texture Water02.dds
scroll_anim 0.05 -0.02
rotate -90
scale 0.2 0.2
colour_op modulate
}
}
}
}

But the Ceiling is using the same, EXACT same material code and on the cave-ceiling it works. Not on the terrain thou.
Therefore i dont think the material is the way to fix it, since it does actually work on objects.

This isnt quite working.
The lighting changes but its not receiving the color of the light.
Plus the terrain gets darker when receiving the light and lighter when i am out of reach of the light.

Code:
material Terrain/TimeMachine
{
   receive_shadows on
   technique
   {
      pass
      {
         lighting off
         texture_unit
         {
            texture ceilingTex.dds
            scale 0.2 0.2
         }
         }
         pass
         {
         lighting off
         scene_blend alpha_blend
         depth_func equal
         texture_unit
         {
            texture Water02.dds
            scroll_anim 0.05 -0.02
            rotate -90
            scale 0.2 0.2
            colour_op_ex blend_diffuse_alpha src_texture src_current

            }
         }
         pass
         {
         ambient 0.55 0.55 0.55 1
         diffuse 0.2 0.8 1
         depth_func equal
         scene_blend zero src_colour
      }
   }
}

link removed

I hope this shows it best.
On the objects surroundet by the blue light it works fine. the terrain however refuses to display it.

OH, i misunderstood, sorry. its likely an error with how the textures are applied to the heightmap? maybe? im not sure if anyone has actually done that yet

I am not sure. Since the ceiling in that cave uses the exact same material and displays the blue color, i think the problem is more that this isnt codet in the ogre engine?
FeralHeart has this feature but i have no clue about ogre and couldnt figure it out.

If it hasnt ben done yet i will stick to it like it is then ^^"

Well I'd make sure it's not an light attenuation issue, and also look into colour_op if you get that wrong it'll also be the wrong colour
